200,000

tonnes of NO₂ reduced annually

As our world advances at accelerating speed, we recognize sustainable practices. Even an older invention as seemingly beneficent as synthetic fertilizer turns out to release nitrous oxide into our atmosphere, a greenhouse gas 300 times more powerful than CO₂. But a world without fertilizer? It would be a world in which some scientists estimate that half of humanity simply could not be fed. So, what to do? How do we navigate these 21st century conundrums?

This project shows us how. With your support, this project has helped to install new technology at a fertilizer plant in Yazoo City, Mississippi, reducing nitrous oxide emissions by 200,000 tonnes annually. By utilizing carbon credits, the company has initiated a program to promote sustainable fertilizer use, thereby further reducing greenhouse gas emissions on millions of acres of farmland. Additionally, new technology at the plant has also reduced CO₂ emissions by 30%. That’s how it is done. Decisively and intelligently.

Together we are creating a better future. This project is evidence that we can capably navigate our way to sustainability. That’s progress of the best kind.

Thank you for supporting this project, and Earth, in 2018.
