Nitrous oxide is a greenhouse gas with a climate warming impact 300 times greater than CO₂. Once emitted, N₂O remains in the atmosphere for over 100 years. According to the EPA, 75% of N₂O emissions in the U.S. are attributable to agriculture. The science is clear. Regulatory abatement of N₂O emissions makes sense, but policies could go much further. So, with your help, we are doing it together.

With your proactive support, nitrous oxide emissions in Yazoo City, Mississippi are being reduced by over 200,000 tonnes annually in the manufacture of agricultural fertilizer. Though it is an expensive and complex process, CF Industries initiated this N₂O abatement project because, a spokesperson says, “We just know it’s the right thing to do. We need to be proactive,” and this is an “opportunity to make a significant difference.”
