2018 was a great year. With your support, Cool Effect projects fought climate change in eleven countries across four continents, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, helping people live better lives, saving forests, and creating jobs. It was a year of accomplishment and momentum, including three new projects added to the Cool Effect portfolio:

• In Myanmar, the Sea of Change project is restoring mangrove forests, an incredibly rich ecosystem whose importance in storing carbon is vital to our climate. Over five million mangrove trees have already been planted, halfway to the goal of ten million trees sequestering over four million tonnes of carbon.
• In China, nearly 400,000 biogas digesters have been installed, mitigating climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 680,000 tonnes, improving the lives of over a million people and helping to develop a sustainable future for planet Earth.
• In Colorado, 14,500 acres of pristine prairie grasslands are preserved from development in perpetuity, storing millions of tonnes of carbon in plants and soil, fighting climate change, and forever preserving a spectacular landscape and habitat.

2018 was also a year when people everywhere stepped up. In our most recent project updates, you have learned how Rajamma in India celebrated her liberation; how Doña Eugenia in Peru, given a kindness, found kindness to give in return; how the people of Los Santos, Costa Rica, trust one another and achieve greater goals; and how, in coastal Myanmar, many hands are contributing to important work. We are a growing global community working together for a sustainable future.
