The People’s Climate Movement (March for Climate, Jobs and Justice) is right around the corner, and we’re excited to stand in solidarity with all of you on this historic day. Whether you’re going to a march in your area or the one in Washington, D.C., consider offsetting the negative impact your travel has on the environment. It only takes a few dollars and a couple of minutes to retire a metric tonne of carbon.
Calculating personal emissions is a tricky business. If you’d like an amount tailored to your exact travel, please write to us at info@cooleffect.org and we’ll put our team of experts on it!
How a stove became a hero
In a country where 93 percent of people cook food over toxic fires, an unexpected invention is saving both the lives of locals and the planet at large: a cookstove. This project is reducing carbon emissions by 58 percent per household. And even more importantly, with clean combustion, it’s helping save the lives of Ugandans by lowering the absurd number of deaths from noxious smoke.
